Undergraduate Scholarships
We are pleased to announce the 2025-2026 recipients of the Foundation undergraduate scholarships. Click on each scholarship below to learn more about each fund and view the recipients.

The Ronald L. & M. Joyce Crossen Scholarship Fund was created by their children to honor the Crossen’s service and devotion to the United Methodist Church of Wentzville where they were members for over 40 years.
Both Ronald and Joyce served in many capacities at the church over many decades. This year, one student received a Crossen scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

The Clint and Marge Hawkins Memorial Christian Education Fund for Youth was created to honor the Hawkins’ lifetime devotion to the church and their dedication to promoting and sustaining the development of young people. This year, three students received a Hawkins scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each.

Larry and Gracia Herbert had no children of their own, but everyone they met became a part of their family. Larry did not complete a formal education, but he and Gracia both knew the advantages and costs of obtaining a college degree. Devout Methodists, Larry and Gracia provided a generous gift to the Foundation that helps others attain their educational goals. Eligible students attend Central Methodist University and receive awards up to $3,000 each.

The family of David Hewitt, Jr. created this scholarship fund as a lasting memorial and gift to future generations. This year, one student was awarded the Hewitt Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

The Judge Leah B. McCartney Scholarship Fund was created by Leah’s husband, the late Reverend Victor McCartney, as a perpetual memorial to his wife.
The scholarship is a fitting memorial to one who achieved both educational and professional distinction. This year, one student received a McCartney scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

The Warren J. Meyer Scholarship Fund was created by Warren’s wife, Reverend Mary Ellen Meyer. The scholarship is a fitting memorial as it combines Warren’s appreciation for education, his devotion to the church, his commitment to charitable giving, and his keen interest in future generations. This year, two students received a Meyer scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

Patricia and Dale Mohler attended First United Methodist Church in North Kansas City before its closure and Pat was very supportive of their scholarship programs. Dale used to be a tutor, so supporting education was important. Pat moved her church membership to Faubion United Methodist Church shortly before her death in 2018. Dale preceded her in death.
Their charitable scholarship fund is used to underwrite the annual MUMF commitment to the Dollars for Scholars program, with any additional funds available beyond that to be allocated for Mohler scholarships. This year, ten students received a Mohler scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each, two students received $1,500 each, and two students received $2,000.

Bill and Mary Alice Reinhardt were devoted members of Centralia UMC and avid supporters of education and community organizations focused on improving the lives of future generations.
Bill and Mary Alice each left gifts through estate plans to establish and grow this scholarship endowment. This year, three students were awarded a Reinhardt Scholarship in the amount of $1,000 each.

Virginia Rosser was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Court Street UMC closed in 2023 and placed this scholarship under the administration of the Foundation. This year, one student received a Rosser scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

Vince and Lola Watson were members of Court Street United Methodist Church. Court Street UMC closed in 2023 and placed this scholarship under the administration of the Foundation.
This year, three students received $3,000 each, and two students received $3,500 each.

Mary E. Wilson was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church. Court Street UMC closed in 2023 and placed this scholarship under the administration of the Foundation. This year, one student received a Wilson scholarship in the amount of $2,000.

Online applications must be submitted between January 1st and April 1st each year. All additional required application materials must be postmarked no later than April 1st.
