Did you know that the Missouri United Methodist Foundation awards various undergraduate college scholarships to qualified students each year? We took a moment to catch up with Genevieve Hunter, a 2025-2026 recipient of the Judge Leah B. McCartney Scholarship.
“I am currently a senior at Truman State University. I am majoring in biology with minors in forensic science and anthropology. I attend and intern at Kirksville First United Methodist Church during the school year. I especially enjoy participating in the choir and helping lead worship music. This past school year I was able to present my research on ALS at two academic conferences with other members of my neurobiology lab. This summer I attended an anthropology field school near Valencia, Spain, in two crypts working to excavate and catalog medieval remains . After this school year, I hope to attend graduate school to obtain a PhD in Forensic Anthropology.“
We hope your school year is off to a great start, Genevieve!
About the Scholarship
The Judge Leah B. McCartney Scholarship Fund was created by Leah’s husband, the late Reverend Victor McCartney, as a perpetual memorial to his wife. The scholarship is a fitting memorial to one who achieved both educational and professional distinction.
Undergraduate scholarship applications are accepted between January and April 1 each year! Learn more here.
