Did you know that the Missouri United Methodist Foundation awards various undergraduate college scholarships to qualified students each year? We took a moment to catch up with Paige Skeeters, a 2025-2026 recipient of the Warren J. Meyer Scholarship and the Patricia and Dale Mohler Charitable Scholarship.
This past school year, I stayed in my hometown of West Plains and attended Missouri State University-West Plains, and I plan to do the same for the 2026–2027 school year. Since August 2025, I have worked on campus in University Advancement as a student worker, and I plan to continue working there throughout the summer and next school year as well. I have decided to pursue a career in teaching, so I am currently taking classes toward that goal. In August 2027, I plan to transfer to Missouri State University in Springfield to continue my education. Right now, I live at home with my family, but this coming August, one of my closest friends, Ella, also a lifelong attendee of First United Methodist Church, and I will be renting a house together. We are both very grateful and excited for this new chapter in our lives and the beginning of adulthood.

One of my favorite memories from this school year was attending the Passion Conference in Fort Worth, Texas, in January with several girls from my church. I also attended last year, and both experiences have meant so much to me. It is incredible to witness so many young people coming together to learn more about God. The worship music and speakers were amazing, and it is an experience I will never forget because it truly touched my heart. Seeing God work through the people in that room and watching many of my closest friends devote themselves to God brought me so much joy.

I attend West Plains First United Methodist Church, where I have grown up attending my entire life. Our church is currently working on starting a young adults class, and I am very excited about the future of that and the opportunity to help make it possible. I have been involved in the youth group since middle school, and even now, as a college freshman, I continue to attend. I am hopeful and excited about creating a space for young adults and college students within our church community.
I want to thank you so much for awarding me this scholarship. I am truly beyond grateful. The Methodist Church has played such an important role in my life, and I know it will continue to do so for many years to come. Again, thank you so much!
God is clearly on the move in Paige’s life! We can’t wait to see what He does next.
About the Scholarships
The Warren J. Meyer Scholarship Fund was created by Warren’s wife, Reverend Mary Ellen Meyer. The scholarship is a fitting memorial as it combines Warren’s appreciation for education, his devotion to the church, his commitment to charitable giving, and his keen interest in future generations.
The Patricia and Dale Mahler Charitable Scholarship Fund is used to underwrite the annual MUMF commitment to the Dollars for Scholars program, with any additional funds available beyond that to be allocated for Mohler scholarships. Patricia and Dale Mohler attended First United Methodist Church in North Kansas City before its closure, and Pat was very supportive of their scholarship programs. Dale used to be a tutor, so supporting education was important. Pat moved her church membership to Faubion United Methodist Church shortly before her death in 2018. Dale preceded her in death.
Undergraduate scholarship applications are accepted between January and April 1 each year! Learn more here.
