This January I’ve met with a dozen church boards around the state. I had two goals: first, to learn about various churches and how they govern themselves. My second goal was to share some best practices of board governance which I believe help churches lead more effectively.
In the process, I have learned a lot and gathered what I think are some practical lessons for churches of all different sizes. Join me on February 23 for either one of the two webinars on effective church board/council governance and leadership:
- February 23, 11:00 a.m. for Simplified Structure (Single Board) Churches
- February 23, 1:00 p.m. for Traditional Structure Churches
Each one-hour session will offer practical examples of structure, policies, accountability and communication. You will leave with discussion questions and ideas that will guide your church leadership toward a more effective collaboration.
While we encourage you to attend the live webinar to be able to ask questions specific to your church, if someone from your team cannot attend, there is also a registration option to receive a recorded version of the webinar that can be replayed for board education.

These webinars will be presented by Reverend Michael Wondel, Associate Director of Development with the Missouri United Methodist Foundation. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his 23 years as a pastor and working with a variety of United Methodist Churches.
