In Memoriam – Gary A. Powell, Esq.

An accomplished attorney and civic leader, Gary was devoted to his family and grounded in his faith. After joining the Foundation Board of Trustees in 2022, Gary quickly became a vital colleague contributing thoughtful insight and wise counsel to the Board’s deliberations. In June of 2024, Gary stepped into the role of Board Chair and was looking forward to advancing the ongoing strategic planning process among other priorities. By late summer, family, friends and much of the Springfield community were shocked by both the news of Gary’s cancer diagnosis and his subsequent death in October at the age of 70.
