Catching Up with Avie Smith

Did you know that the Missouri United Methodist Foundation awards various undergraduate college scholarships to qualified students each year? We took a moment to catch up with Avie Smith, a 2025-2026 recipient of the Virginia Rosser – Court Street UMC Memorial Scholarship.

I think my biggest achievement this year was producing/directing personal interviews about themes of resilience for the AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) voices non-profit in St Louis. My work should be available to view at aapi-voices.org soon! It was a great opportunity to meet new people and help minorities, like myself, spread their story. I hope to do more projects like it in the future! Right now I am looking forward to interning at Cinema St. Louis assisting with a special project for SLIFF’s (St. Louis International Film Festival) 35th anniversary. Hopefully you’ll see that in the future!

Sounds like a successful year, Avie! Congratulations!
