Bring your morning cup of coffee and get fired up about new possibilities in ministry! Hosted by Laura Murphy from MUMF, hear from a panel of in-the-trenches pastors about how they found ways to grow ministry when finances were low, and possibilities seemed few. Each panel member has a story of how they took a vision and figured out how to fund it through cultivating outside grants, sponsorships, funding, and support from a variety of areas, including their local communities. These pastors are eager to share how this is impacting not just the dollars in their churches but also how it’s bringing a renewed sense of meaning to their ministry and hope to their once struggling congregations. While each of their situations is unique, they have a shared desire to help other pastors find their way during this unique time in ministry. There will be plenty of time for questions, encouragement, and shared hope for everyone who attends!
THE PANEL
Rev. Tadd Kruithoff—St Stephens UMC, Troy, MO
As the pastor of this small-town ministry context, Pastor Tadd has helped this church go from dealing with high debt and low attendance into a church blossoming with hope and promise. Focusing on collaborating with other entities for funding, reshaping vision, and listening to community needs, this church has experienced a revival many never thought possible.
Rev. Chris Sams—Adrian UMC, Adrian, MO
In this rural ministry context, Pastor Chris focuses on bringing new life to forgotten areas of the community. Whether it’s repurposing a building, creating connections for children and families, caring for the homeless, or searching out resources to pay for it all, Chris is teaching his congregation that new life is possible even when it feels impossible.
Rev. Cheree Trent Mills—New Awakening UMC, St. Louis, MO
Pastor Cheree guides this urban African American congregation to see possibilities in every corner of their church! It all stems from when she heard God say that when she asked for her next appointment to ask for a building. She got it! A big building that needed work but also one that God has flooded with opportunities for ministry with the community, volunteers to fix up, funding resources, and more!
